Dichelostemma / Brodiaea hybrid PINK DIAMOND

Similar to the species Brodiaea (Dichelostemma) ida-maia, it has bright pink flowers edged with green on long stems resembling firecrackers. Up to 8 stunning flowers on a stem. It is the only species in the genus that is pollinated by birds. "Pink Diamond" is a natural hybrid between B. ida-maia and B. multiflorum. Plant with other Brodiaea for a dazzling effect.

Western US natives and are adapted to fall, winter and spring moisture and dry summers. They should be planted in the fall - winter like daffodils and Tulips for best performance.

Pink Diamond is a perennial corm producing several tall bloom stalks per bulb! Not just 1 or 2 like most but 5 or more! The top of each stem has clusters of tubular, hot pink flowers with white tips, as many as ten pink tubular flowers per stem. Pink Diamond blooms for WEEKS! No water required! Brodiaea need a sunny spot with well drained soil. Makes a very impressive, long-lasting cut-flower. They are very attractive to hummingbirds, their natural pollinator, and flower in late spring to mid summer.

Confusion reigns as to the family of which these native American flowers should be placed, but there's no doubt about their beauty and diversity; tall stems sway in the slightest breeze creating movement or dancing in the garden.

Bulbs go dormant in summer.

NEARLY ALL OF THE DAVE'S GARDEN FEEDBACK WAS FOR LILIUM, BUT I HAD FAR MORE INVESTED IN NATIVE PLANTS AND BULBS, ALL OF WHICH ARE NOW EXTINCT DUE TO THE ANTI-FARMING ATTITUDE IN OREGON.
